Reading For Fun? That's Not A Thing.

School. College. University.

Whatever you call it, it all means the same thing: the death of reading for your own pleasure. Unless, of course, you are one of those people who are good at scheduling and putting time aside for things such as that.

I am not one of those people.

Being an English Literature major, I read a lot of books for my 6 courses. A lot. This semester alone I had to buy 21 books for my required reading. So basically, I read for class, go to class, read some more for class, and somehow squeeze in time for food and nap breaks. I am worn out. When I am not reading for class, I use my free time to catch up on sleep (and get distracted by stupid things on the internet), since my college workload often keeps me up into the late hours of the night.

So where is there time to for fun?

Other people have no problem shuffling school, fun and possibly even a job, but for me, it's too much at times.

Which is why I am so very thankful the end of the semester is rapidly approaching! While this means exams and papers, it also means free time (also possibly a large influx of reviews for the books I've read this semester).

Don't get me wrong, I love my major. I am reading books I never would have even glanced at on my own and am finding new favorites in the most unlikeliest of places. It's wonderful. But sometimes I just want to read a book of my choice, one that there will not be a quiz on the next day.

My rambling for the day xD

  1. I have the same problem lol.

Only I'm a history major so I am reading history texts and busy memorizing countless dates and events. College is a struggle.
